Investment Committee

Todd Sobotka, the foundation’s portfolio manager, heads BrightStar’s investment committee as its non-voting chairperson. Todd and his team are in charge of screening applicants, performing due diligence and making “funding” recommendations to the investment committee.

The volunteer committee is made up of a number of individuals possessing much diverse investment experience in angel investing, investment portfolio management plus venture capital and M&A experience. The thirteen-member committee meets quarterly and needs a six person minimum quorum to vote on investment recommendations. A 75% majority is needed to make a funding commitment.
