Thomas Shannon is president & CEO of BrightStar Wisconsin Foundation Inc. and donates his time as head of operations of this charitable organization. He also is board chairman and a lead investor in Shamrock Energy Corp., Neenah; Proxim Diagnostics Corp., Sunnyvale, California; Somna Therapeutics LLC, Milwaukee; and Aver Informatics Inc., Green Bay, Wisconsin. He was most recently CEO of biotech company Prodesse Inc. He exited the firm after its sale to Gen-Probe Inc in November of 2009 for $72 million. In 1996, he founded Shamrock Partners, which led the investment group in Prodesse's initial funding in 2002 and the purchase in 1997 of three regional transportation companies in Nebraska and Florida.
Prior to that Mr. Shannon held a variety of senior level management positions in sales and general management as a registered principal for The Equitable and its subsidiaries, including Alliance Capital and Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette. He has served as a director of the Wisconsin Angel Network, Promentis Pharmaceuticals Inc., Stemina Biomarker Discovery Inc., OKANJO Partners Inc., the Nebraska Special Olympics and BizStarts Milwaukee. He holds a finance degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned the certified financial planner (CFP) and chartered financial consultant (CHFC) credentials.
